Photography is a hobby, something which gives me a little bit of a creative outlet. I tend to favour imagery with people in it, even of landscape or buildings as people give a sense of scale and also some context to the image.

I like to experiment with various styles of photography from portrait to landscape, from street to wildlife.

I try to take at least one course or group session a month, either though a Meetup Group or through one of a few photography course groups I favour, including 36exp and Frui.

Equipment wise, I shoot with a Nikon, and generally with prime lenses

I am starting a 365 Photo challenge, 1 photo a day, which I will show in the gallery below. The best way to improve one’s competence in any discipline or skill is to practice regularly, which is the idea behind one photo a day. Even if there is nothing particularly exciting to shoot, getting into the habit of looking for the opportunity to shoot and then shooting can only be a good thing.¬†

My photography plans for 2020 started ambitiously, but of course have been hugely affected by the Covid 19 situation and the restrictions imposed.

I have been able to experiment with a few techniques successfully, such as with in camera double exposure (influenced by Dora Maar) and Lens ball photography, and less successfully with using a rotolight neo2.

But plans for projects and trips have had to be put on hold.

But keep an eye out for one project, my photo holiday company

hopefully running next year, with some exciting photography holidays to Nepal, Scotland, Jordan and possibly Iran.
